The Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling
Seven books that follow a young wizard through his school days and his continual battle against the forces of evil. Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione use all their ingenuity and magic skills to withstand Voldemort, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named , who will use all the dark arts in his attempt to kill HarryVoldemort also has his supporters, even among the teachers and students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
For those who have not yet read the series, we will not reveal here whether Voldemort is vanquished …and whether Harry finds true love.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
The Knife of never letting go is set in a future world ruled by terrifying violence, fear and oppression.
The main character is Todd Hewitt, the only boy in a town of adult men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, no-ones thoughts are private. Thoughts whirl through the air, creating danger for those whose thoughts are disloyal or who dream of escape.
Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the confusion of all the Noise, he knows that the town is hiding something from him - something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too.
